“Food doesn’t have to be at the fanciest restaurant to be amazing. The power of gathering loved ones around food is what makes it amazing.”

— Chef Steve

Our Story

Coincidentally, Wok Theology began the same week our marriage did. We got married the very same weekend the world shut down due to COVID-19. We spent our quarantine honeymoon testing recipes in our tiny kitchen, and dreaming up what a life centered around a love of food could look like — we often refer to that time as the “Corona Kitchen Days.”

We both grew up in families that gathered exclusively around food. Big tables, filled with aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents, overflowing with all our favorite dishes. Those are the memories we hold fondly of our childhoods, and they are the memories we’re all about recreating for you today. Experiences centered around the love of food that will create memories to last a lifetime.

Chef Steve

At the start of 2018, Steve was enjoying cooking for family and friends as a hobby. With 10 years of previous experience as a pastry chef, he began to consider cooking seriously. By the spring of 2021, he left his pursuit of a law degree and full-time job to do exactly that. Now, he is bringing his love of food to your tables.

Steve was born and raised in a Chinese-Vietnamese family, where there was an abundance of food on the table. He grew up watching his grandparents as they brought their traditional recipes to life in an American setting. This passion for exploration and love of family is apparent in Steve’s style of cooking. Striving to create a dynamic flavor profile in each and every dish, and using the experience of a shared meal to create a connection with your loved ones that will last a lifetime.
